Chiang International Rai Airport, also known as Mae Fah Luang, is located at a distance of 8 km from the city center. Named after Princess Srinagarindra of the Royal Thai Family, the airport is one of the major airports in northern Thailand. Chiang Rai Airport currently has one terminal, wherein you can find dedicated areas for domestic and international ticketing.
The Airport previously offered international flights to Macau, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Kunming, and Haikou. However, they were later restricted after the 2020 pandemic. At present, CEI Airport handles a limited number of international and domestic flights from and to Bangkok, Phuket, Buriram, and more.
