Wat Suwan khuha is a cave temple which has various caves of varied sizes where the biggest one acts as the entrance to the cave. It is called Wat Tham by the local people which when translated in English means Cave Temple.
Wat Suwan Khuha’s Noted Caves
The temple is located in a mountain and as stated before has a number of caves with following names: Tham Chaeng, Tham Muet, Tham Kaeo and Tham Yai; out of which the last one is the biggest in size and is at the lowest level. Tham Yai also serves as the chapel and houses a number of Buddha images out of which the 15 meters long golden image of reclining Buddha is the most distinguished, and the place is also decorated by number of religious items.

At the mouth of the lowest cave, one finds a faded gate that acts as the entrance to the cave temple. On entering the cave the first thing that one witnesses is a Chedi structure, the likes of which can also be seen at temples like Wat Arun which is also located in Bangkok. It also has a stupa where the ashes of the respected persons have been kept. Then comes the reclining Buddha as the main attraction and just behind it is a stair which leads to an interesting looking alter. Once done with the lowermost cave one can ascend the stairs that lead to the upper level where ‘Light’ cave is located. In this cave there sits a mystic looking monk plus a wall that bears the impression of seals of all the Royals from the very first king to the current one.
Useful Information
It charges an admission fee of 20 Baht and remains open daily and from 8 in the morning till 5 in the evening, usually till it is day time.
