Wat Kaewkorawaram in Krabi

Located in the middle of Krabi, Wat Kaewkorawaramin Krabi is a lovely Buddhist temple which was built in 2007. It is also known as simply Wat Kaew and it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Krabi. The history of the temple dates back to 1887 when monks living here built a temple. The actual temple is located just in front of Wat Kaewkorawaram and today it houses a contemporary art museum. Unlike the usual Buddhist temples, the building of Wat Kaewkorawaram is very simple. The walls of the temple are white in color and it has a blue roof. Inside, there is a big Buddha statue is placed. The interiors of the temple are decorated with traditional Thai work.

Important Information

Wat Kaew is located at Maharaj Road near the Vogue Mall and can be visited without a hassle if you rent a car in Krabi. The temple is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 10 am and 5 pm, and on Sunday, it is open from 11 am to 4 pm. It will be closed between 1 and 2 pm for a lunch break. It is a Buddhist temple, so you must wear appropriate clothes. Do not wear short dresses, and you have to remove your shoes before entering the temple.
