Tonsai is a beautiful beach located near Krabi and it offers a quite unique tourism and beach scene. Tonsai is a paradise for backpackers and climbers. Hundreds of tourist visit Tonsai to practice climbing and soloing. It also offers cheaper accommodation options than its neighboring beaches of Ao Nang and Railay. Over years, Tonsai has become a must visit for solo travelers and all the backpackers in Thailand. This area is quite small in size and travelers can easily get around on foot but during the rainy season, the roads of the area become slippery.

Visiting Tonsai Beach
From Tonsai, tourists can also visit the shrine of Phra Nang Beach which will take about 30 minutes of walk. On the path to Phra Nang Beach, the lagoon is another place which is a must visit. Rock climbing is the main activity which can be enjoyed at Tonsai Beach. several tour companies and climbing schools are located there which offer various courses. A few shops are located at the beach selling a variety of products, but prices are a little high here. Numerous bars and restaurants can be found at the beach. Different kinds of accommodation options are available here at very low prices. You can also rent a camping tent.
Some Useful Tips
Tonsai Beach can be reached by boat only. The famous long tail boats are available from the town of Ao Nang which will take only ten minutes to reach Tonsai. But to get to Ao Nang from Krabi city, the best way is to rent a car from Thailand Cars Rentals. If you are already at Railay Beach then it will take only about 20 minutes of walk. At Tonsai, electricity is available only for 12 hours between 6 pm to 6 am. During the daytime, there will be no electricity on the beach. Many restaurants and bungalows use generators in the day.
