The Sanctuary of Truth is an impressive wooden structure located along the sea coast of Pattaya. It is the largest wooden building in Thailand which was built by Mr. Lek Viriyaphant, the founder of “MuangBoran” and “Erawan Museum”. Inspired by a philosophical truth which tells the important of religion and art, the Sanctuary of Truth explains the importance of religion and art in humanity. The sanctuary is made completely from wood and it has a unique architectural style. Only ancient woodworking techniques are used in its construction. It also displays wonderful handmade wood carvings. In 2008, this temple received the “Best Travel Destination Award” from the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
A Visit to the Sanctuary
The construction of the sanctuary was started in 1981 and it is still going on. The structure is made of only teak wood without using any nuts and bolts. After seeing the sanctuary, it is very hard to believe that it is a built just a few years back not many centuries ago. Numerous figures have been carved on the walls displaying the teachings of different religions including Buddhism, Hinduism, Persian and Confucian. Visitors can find the cravings of the stories of Mahabharata and Ramayana which tells us about good and bad. Each inch of the sanctuary has a figure. The temple was built to show the cultural Heritage of Thailand to the World.

The Sanctuary of Truth is located at 206/2 Moo 5, Soi Naklua 12, Naklua, Banglamung and it can be visited any day between 8 am and 6 pm.
