The Largest Zoo of South Thailand

Songkhla Zoo is the largest zoo in Southern Thailand and is the perfect place to watch the animals in action. Located in Tambon Khao Rup Chang on the Songkhla-Chana Road, this open-range zoo covers an area of approximately 145 hectares and is home to about 160 species. Established in 1989, Songkhla Zoo is among the very few zoos in Thailand that are members of the Zoological Park Organization. The main objective of the zoo besides providing a recreational spot for people is the preservation of wild animals and to return them to their natural habitat. The hilly area of Songkhla Zoo is paved with an asphalt ring road on which visitors can drive along the way and see the various animals such as tigers, bantengs, crocodiles, camels and a diverse range of colorful birds. The highlight of the zoo is a viewpoint with several food stalls which is situated on the top, offering breathtaking views of the city.
