Varied and hooking collection

It is not a big museum but all the major contents of its collection are unique and beautiful. Its collection has been donated by the former abbot Somdej Maha Viravong to the Fine Arts so that it can achieve its objectives. Hence the museum’s collection was developed around the initial collection which belonged to the monk who was once a big name in north eastern Thailand. However various cultural and historically important objects from archeological sites and ancient monuments plus objects donated by people are also exhibited in the museum. This place is also close to Thao Suranaree Monument and hence though tiny it also attracts a good chunk of crowd.

Its collection’s each object and artifact best represents Thai art, culture and archeology which give a very in-depth and interesting peek in its history. The interesting portions in the museum are devoted to pottery and a lot of Buddha statues which belong to various eras from Dvaravati to Rattanakosin; it also includes the royal chairs which were once used by Rama 5 and 9. The other good thing about the museum is that all the information about the objects and artifacts is given in English as well as Thai.
