Madame Tussauds History

First Madame Tussauds was established in late 1700s at the site of ‘Dr Philippe Curtius’ wax exhibition’ which a lady named Marie inherited after his death. In 1795 Marie married Mr. François Tussaud and in 1802 she shifted her exhibition to Britain and moved away leaving her husband behind where with the help of her sons established the base at the Baker’s Street Bazaar. After her death in 1850, the place was shifted to its current location in London by Marie’s grandsons.

Madame Tussauds @ Bangkok

2010 saw the establishment of Madame Tussauds  branch in Siam Discovery center, Bangkok. Madame Tussauds Bangkok just like its other branches incorporates statues of various renowned world personalities showcased in 10 halls; a theater and some souvenir boutiques or shops are also present. Hollywood stars, politicians or Thailand’s Hall of Fame- its collection is really comprehensive which is certainly high on detail. However of all 10 rooms, the Royal room is considered the best and is also the only room where touching the statues is not permitted. Madame Tussauds is different from its other branches; here the craftsmanship is of higher degree. A lot of work is done on detailing; for instance each hair on the statue’s head is implanted by hand and most interesting thing is that they use real human hair! One can also know more about the craft of wax work by visiting the second floor of the Museum where history of Madame Tussauds has also been exhibited.

Opening Time: 10am – 9pm daily
