Koh Sukorn is an island in southern Trang province and is known for its placid atmosphere and the beaches located on its west side.

What does its name says?

Sukorn means pig and it is said that long ago the island had numerous wild boars but now the scenario is different. The place is full of water buffaloes, herons and goats but nowadays one will not find a pig in the whole 30 square kilometer of the island.

Highlights—Beaches and much more

High on scenic beauty its marvelous beaches are certainly the best way to spend a sunny day lounging on the beach, but for those who seek some activity they can indulge in water sports on the nearby islands. For instance, snorkeling is available on the neighboring twin islands of Koh Laoliang. Enjoy the popular watermelons or the delicious native food; visit the crab market or any of the three villages that are there on the island and interact with the heart-warming and friendly residents. Cement roads give access to each and every cranny of the island and since the island is not that big, one can easily move about on foot though tuk-tuks, taxis etc are also available. However bike ride is considered the ideal way to roam about Koh Sukorn and also proves to be the most fun-filled too.

Interestingly……

It is observed that mostly the 500 or so residents of Koh Sukorn outnumber the tourists but the real fact is that a handful of resorts on the island are the main reason and has nothing to do with the island or its residents, the place is so infectious you will also end up loving the brown sand. Though unlikely, make prior arrangements if planning to visit Koh Sukorn and avoid any possible hassles which can arise especially in case of accommodation.
