Khao Pu-Khao Ya National Park

Khao Pu-Khao Ya national park is also called Bha Brommajan which means ‘Virgin Forest’ and is surrounded by mountains. Known for its diverse flora and fauna, this national park accommodates around 162 animal species; it covers an area of about 433,000 fields and is located in the Phatthalung province. It is Thailand’s 42nd National Park which was established in 1982 and is known especially for its four main tourist attractions.

Attractions

  • Matcha Cave: This cave has a fish lake which is about 100m wide and has three rooms full of stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is about 2 kilometers from the National Park’s headquarters and at its center there are at least 10 statues of Buddha.
  • Seven tier waterfall named Pak Jam Waterfall.
  • Stepped Waterfall called Nan-Prew Waterfall- it originates from Banthat Mountain Range.
  • Bee-hive Cliff Viewpoint: 300 meters in height, this cliff gives an excellent panoramic view of the National park and the surrounding Banthat Mountain Range. It is also called PhaPhung Viewpoint.

Interesting Facts

The name Bee-hive Cliff derives from the fact that in summers this places gets abuzz with thousands and millions of bees but ironically when rainy season comes and the bees abandons the place, the quite that falls is really antonymous. It is estimated that thousands of beehives are built and abandoned annually. Though there are many more such offerings yet one place comes as a total surprise on addition to the above stated four destinations. The national park is located at the center of a valley where Tarzan like accommodations are offered, this fact not only makes it more interesting but also unique.

Opening Hours and Admission Fee: It opens everyday from 8 am till 4 pm and an admission fee of 20 baht per adult is charged whereas in case of children the charge is 10 Baht per kid.
