Located in the north of Krabi, Khao Phanom Bencha National Park is the only national park in the city which is blessed with beautiful mountains and lush green forests. It covers an area of 50 sq. km and about 20 km from Krabi. It also shares its area with the towns of Ao Luek and Khao Phanom. The park is located at an altitude of 1397 meters which is the highest point in Krabi. Khao Phanom Bencha National Park can be characterized by forested peaks, stunning landscapes enhanced by the streams, waterfalls and a relative abundance of wildlife. It is one of the must visit attractions in Krabi.

Attractions at Khao Phanom Bencha National Park

The whole area of the park is not accessible for public and the main attractions of the park are its waterfalls. Many waterfalls can be found in the park but ‘Nam Tok Huay To’ is most spectacular and the most popular one. It is an 11 tier waterfall has a height of over 70 meters and it is located only 500 meters from the park office. This waterfall has 5 cascades with their own names: Wang Ton Phrio, Wang Chong Loi, Wang Thewada, Wang Sam Hap and Wang Doi Prong. Another attraction of the park is Khao Pheung which is one of the largest caves in Thailand. It is a unique cave which is full of stalactites and stalagmites. Other than these attractions, Khao Phanom Bencha National Park also offers numerous hiking and biking trails.

Useful Information

Located at a distance of 20 km from the town of Krabi, Khao Phanom Bencha National Park can be easily reached in the comfort of a rental car. It opens daily between 8 am and 6 pm. Trekking trails spanning for 2 or 3 nights are also available here. You can also rent a tent for camping from the park’s office.
