Dusit Zoo is a great attraction for families and children. The lush green zoo has numerous trees, ponds and a variety of flowers. It is spread over about 470 acres of land and house more than 2200 wild animals from over 1600 different species. The main highlights of this zoological park include a reptile exhibition, water birds, zoo museum, red panda, a nocturnal house and many other animals of endangered species. You can also enjoy boating in the zoo lake and also feed numerous animals except reptiles. Dusit Zoo is a must visit attraction in Bangkok and every year, Dusit Zoo attracts more than 2,500,000 visitors from all around the world.

History of Dusit Zoo

Initially Dusit Zoo was a botanical garden which was built for the people to provide them a place to relax and entertainment. During his visits to foreign visits, King Rama V became impressed with the concept of botanical gardens and he planned to make one in Bangkok. In 1895, the king gave orders to build a botanical garden at the current location of the zoo. A large lake was dug up and numerous tree were planted in the garden. In 1938, the botanical garden was converted into a public park and zoo. Now it is the under the administration of Bangkok Municipality.

The Dusit Zoo is located at 71 Rama V road, Dusit, Bangkok. The zoo is open every day for visitors between 8 am and 6 pm. The Dusit Zoo is surrounded by numerous other attractions which can be explored during the visit to the zoo. A car rental is the best mode of transportation to reach Dusit Zoo.
