Doi Pui is a tribal village and a must visit attraction in northern Thailand. This village is located on the highest peak of Doi Suthep-Pui, 1685 meters above the sea level. The National Park of Doi Suthep-Pui offers a beautiful natural environment full of lush vegetation, breathtaking waterfalls and picturesque temples hidden in the mountains. The majestic temple of Doi Suthep, the most famous landmark of the city, is also located at the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park. Many travelers climb the mountain just to visit the temple only, but it will be rewarded if we go a little further and also visit the tribal village of Doi Pui. This tribal village is really a hidden gem of the hill and you should not miss it.

The Doi Pui village is inhabited by the Hmong community which can also be found in the different countries of Southeast Asia. The people of this ethnic group can also be found in China. The people of Hmong live a rural life which is based on the cultivation of vegetables and fruits. They also raise animals and produce handicrafts. Formerly, the village used to plant opium for a living, but it was banned by the government. Then they started to sell fruits, vegetables, clothes and handicrafts. You can buy their products from the shops located in the village. A visit to the tribal village of Doi Pui and the national park will an unforgettable experience.

The Doi Suthep-Pui National Park is located at a distance of almost 19 kilometers from the city of Chiang Mai. A car rental from Chiang Mai is the easiest way to reach the park. The park can be visited on any day between 8:30 am to 4:15 pm. Because of its location, the village has a cooler climate the city of Chiang Mai. It is suggested to keep warm clothes in your backpack and wear a sweater or jacket, especially during the months of December and January. Also, travelers must wear appropriate clothes; no skirts, shorts and no transparent clothes are allowed.
