Bangkok’s International Festival of Dance & Music is an annual festival featuring many dancers, classical ballet groups and other troupes along with the best orchestras and theater groups of the world. The cultural festival began in 1999 and in 2018 Thailand will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the festival. The dance and music festival begins in the second week of September and ends in the middle of October. The venue for the five-week long festival has always been Thailand Cultural Center. It’s recommended to procure the tickets before-hand as the festival is in a huge demand.

Great artists selected from all over the world participate in this festival, making it one of the best cultural festivals in Thailand. Every year, there are new performances which brings people back again and again. The first to begin will be Carmen Opera by San Carlo Opera accompanied by San Carlo Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta; on September 12 and 14. September 13 and 15 will be highlighted with center-staged performance of San Carlo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta. This opera is a true ambassador of Neapolitan and Italian traditions. The Teatro di San Carlo of Naples is a legendary opera house as it’s the oldest active opera house running since 1737. The events will begin at 7:30 PM.

Last year’s International Festival of Dance & Music of Bangkok

Amazing performances thrilled the audience during last year’s Bangkok’s International Festival of Dance & Music. Even this year, the festival is going to be as exciting as the 19th edition of the festival. Below are a few highlights from 2017.

ballet

Ballet– Well-known artists from all over the world such as Yekaterinburg, Russia, performed ballet.

Flamenco– Flamenco dancers from Spain’s Antonio Andrade Flamenco Company performed at the festival in 2017.

Magic show– A magician from Switzerland, performed “WOW” World of Wonder magic show.

Contemporary ballet– The famous tale of Beauty and the Beast was enacted in a ballet form.

Orchestra– Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra also performed at Bangkok’s International Festival of Dance & Music.
